Pick up an adult summer reading packet, “Build a Better World,” at any branch of the Alcona County Library beginning Tuesday, June 20. Adult Summer Reading is from June 20 through August 15, with special programs and chances for prizes donated by area businesses. Summer Reading for Children and Teens begins on June 28. The Alcona Book Club will explore this theme with special "building" book selections throughout the summer. Everyone is invited to a Magic Show to kick off Summer Reading for Children and Teens at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library on Wednesday, June 28 at 1:30 p.m. Magician and entertainer Zvara’s show for all ages is filled with magic, comedy, juggling, stunts, music and tons of audience participation. This activity is supported by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs Minigrant Program, administered by Northeast Michigan Center for Fine Art, Inc. Children and Teens are invited to pick up “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Packets at any branch of the Library, with prizes and awards for reading goals reached. Summer Reading for Children and Teens is from June 28 until the August 9 party and prize drawing, with fabulous prizes donated by area businesses.
