February is Love Your Library (LYL) month at all branches of the Alcona County Library!  The LYL theme this year is “We Love Food,” so you are invited bring in your favorite recipe to post on our “Wall of Recipes.”  An entry form for a chance to win a prize will be given for each recipe posted; one winner at each branch will be announced on Feb. 28.  Explore the wide selection of cookbooks available to check out with a Library card.  Pick up a FREE copy of “Library Favorite” recipes.  February 12-16 is Coffee Lovers’ week at the Harrisville branch with exotic coffee provided by Alcona Coffee and treats baked by the Library staff (treats at the other branches, too).  Pick up a bag of fresh popcorn on Free Popcorn Thursdays from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Harrisville branch.  Correctly guess the number of candies in the jar and win the entire jar of candy.  The Harrisville branch will host two “foodie” events:  “Nothing says ‘I Love You’ like Cheese,” a history of cheese, on Tuesday, February 13 at 1:30 p.m.; and the “Brownie/Bar Challenge,” on Feb. 21 at 1:00 p.m. where Library staff judges the best brownies or cookie bars in the County.  For teens ages 10-18 who are suspicious of this Hallmark holiday, come for crafts and refreshments at the “Anti-Valentine’s Day Party” at the Harrisville branch on Wednesday, February 14 from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.  For information on all the Love Your Library month activities at the Alcona County Library, call 989-724-6796.
